This time on the pitch of Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham the co-hosting team England will be locking horn with the Australia players in the 3rdmatch of the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Talking about the Aussies they already have clinched this trophy twice in the consecutive years 2006 and 2009. Australia currently is enjoying the first rank in this competition and it will look forward to make a mark by winning this season as well. On the other side the England team has not won any of the 50 over international cricket competition and is currently place at no.6 in the ranking.

Australia
Australia is coming to the Champions Trophy after the 5-0 win in the international cricket that they played against West Indies. Apart from the warm up matches the team has also played the 4 matches test series against India which they lost by 4-0. Lastly the players of the Aussie team played in the IPL 6 as well. The Australian team put up an impressive performance where they lashed West Indies chasing the score of 258 runs. However the team got smashed by the Indian bowlers in the second warm up match where they got wrapped up at 65 runs only.
Placed in Group A along with Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand, Australia will be looking forward for a lead in the early matches as there is very less scope for any later comeback. This season the team is going to debut with a team of new players while their real strength lies in bowling department. In the absence of the names like Hussey brothers, Cameron White, Brett Lee and Ricky Ponting it will be on the part of younger talent to drive the team for a success. Also Michael Clarke’s back injury raises concern for the team as he will be swapped by George Bailey this time.

This Champions Trophy Season England was not in any of the warm up matches as it was scheduled to play with New Zealand in a 3 match ODI series. The team lost the series by 1-2 and the bowlers were simply crushed under the bat by the New Zealand’s Martin Guptil. In the batting for the England team Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott are the names that will be looked forward by the team to perform. Also Ravi Bopara’s inclusion in the team gives it a balance.
In the bowling the England bowlers have a lead that they are playing on their home ground and are more familiar with the environment than any other team. Pacers like James Anderson, Tim Bresnan, Steven Finn and Stuart Broad will be looked forward to make early leads in the match. In the spinner’s section Swann will be taking care of middle overs.
