The teams that are gearing up for the 5th battle in the ICC Champions Trophy are Pakistan and South Africa. Both these teams will be fighting a tough must win battle as they lost their opening matches to West Indies and India inline. Based on probable mathematical stats the team which will end with a loss on their side is going to be pushed to the very bottom in ranking indeed.
Match Venue and Date
The 5th ICC Champions Trophy match will be played between Pakistan and South Africa at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm on June 10, 2013.
Pakistan
In their first battle against the West Indies, Pakistan was not able to pull up their performance to even an average mark and got back to pavilion for just 170 runs score. None of the batsmen in the Pakistan team were able to impress apart from skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and Nasir Jamshed. Captain played a 96* runs while none of the other players even made it to double figures run. The batting order of the team needs to be boosted. This is necessary for Pakistan wants to win against the South African team and make a lead.
The bowling has being the real strength of the team and the Pakistan bowlers did created a stir in the West Indies line up picking 8 wickets. However woeful batting performances lead all the bowling efforts of the team to get in vain. Saeed Ajmal who picked up two early crucial wickets giving just 38 runs proved why he is enjoying the world’s no.2 ODI bowler ranking. Pacer Mohammad Irfan clinching 3 wickets with his bullets also made an impact on the team. The duo Wahab Riaz and Junaid Khan are also threat for the SA batsmen.
South Africa
Losing against India for just 26 runs is something that will be keeping the South African team on fire. This match they will not be tolerating any team to get over them and weaken their chances of winning. Captain AB de Villiers who partnered a 124 runs inning with Robin Peterson will be looking forward for a win this time. Ryan McLaren is also an added advantage for the team.
Morne Morkel’s absence will be a concern for the team however pacer Dale Steyn will be looked forward to make his best. Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Rory Klienveldt and JP Duminy will be the one taking care of the rest. The team needs to put up an impressive play with their best to make some early leads in the ICC tournament.
